Treasure hunting

Hello everyone. I'm back from cold and snowy Germany. It's always a weird feeling being back. A mixture of being happy to be back here in London and feeling sad to be away from old friends and family. So I'm always slightly torn between my family home and my new home. Do you know that feeling as well? I guess most people that fell in love with someone who lives in a foreign country know what I'm talking about. I left Germany two years ago and feel very much at home here in England but I also feel slightly guilty for leaving my family behind. Oh well, you cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore (as André Gide once said).
Anyway... today I went trasure hunting at a local carboot sale and I discovered a beautiful towel rail just like the one below (except that it looks slightly older and used which makes it even nicer).
Oh how I love carboot sales...
Have you discovered any treasures recently?

  1. Thanks for visiting!
You find it melancholic because my mood might be that way!
    Welcome back!
I would feel the same way moving from a country to the other! Yesterday I've thought a lot about this!
It's good when you find your interior peace and feel good about any place, thing, person! I'm still looking for this!
    All the best! I'm around!

  3. My situation is a bit different. I live in Brazil with two of my eight kids. The other six live in Argentina, so even though we are in a gorgeous place here I cannot help wishing we were back in Argentina all together. Sigh.

    Lovely towel rail!

    Have a great week!

  4. Oh yes I know what you mean. I left Belgium 4 years ago. The reason was I wanted more then
20 sunny days a year, a bit like England;-)
So I lived on a Greek Island for 3 years where I became addicted to interior decor, certainly when I saw the nice appartements they have in Athens (you should google that). And then 3 months in sunny Texas, 1 month in England (Wolverhampton), 4 months in sunny Cyprus, and now back again since 4 months in sunny Texas...

    Why did you leave Germany?
